Artifacts, Scanlines problems in Sony PSP 3000

22 October 2008 By Shashank

PSP 3000 which boasts of a improved brighter and vibrant screen has some problems in the display hardware due to which early adopters of PSP 3000 are complaining about scanlines and interlacing problems on the official PlayStation forums. Sony has replied to the problem like this:

On some occasions, scan lines may appear on scenes where brightness changes drastically, due to the hardware features of the new Sony PSP-3000 offers more natural and vibrant colors on its screen, but the scan lines have come out to be more visible as a result of improving response time to alleviate the afterimages on PSP-3000. Since this is due to hardware specification, there are no plans for a system software update concerning this issue.

This problem as it seems cannot be corrected by a firmware update so users have no choice but to live with the problem, but his might open doors for a whole new PSP-4000 or PSP2

Inspite of the interlacing problems PSP 3000 has seen record sales,  the new PSP-3000 has reached a sales figure of 141,270 units in its first four days after its release on October 16th
