Toshiba’s Portégé R500 With 3G Yet Another MacBook Air Killer

Its raining lighter laptops, ever since Apple released their MacBook Air more and more companies are joining the lighter and better laptops bandwagon. I have already blogged about the Fujitsu Lifebook P160 and the Lenovo’s ultralight Thinkpad X300 and now its Toshiba’s turn to blow up some Air. Toshiba has revealed their refurbished version of Toshiba’s Portégé R500 laptop equipping it with additional features.

Toshiba is claiming it to be the lightest and thinnest laptop available today according to its spec sheet the laptop weighs only 771 grams and only 25.5 mm thick. The laptop is now available in two flavors: the R500-11J and the R500-11I.

Fujitsu Rolls Out 8.9 Inch Tablet Lifebook P1620

Fujitsu has started rolling out its latest Lifebook P1620 convertible tablet PC. The New Lifebook P1620 is touted to be smaller than the other tablets available , it uses a small 8.9 inch LCD with stylus along with 1.2GHz ultra low-voltage Core 2 Duo, at least 60GB of storage in a 1.8-inch drive, and up to 2GB of memory courtesy of small RAM slots. Wireless over 802.11a/b/g as well as PC Card and SD card slots also fit into the case. Despite these, the computer weighs just 2.2 pounds, Fujitsu says.

What is CeBIT(Centre of Office and Information technology).

CeBIT is one of the world’s most important computer expos.
It is held in Hanover, Germany each spring and is a barometer
of information technology. With an exhibition area of 400,000
m² and 700,000 visitors, it is bigger than COMUTEX.

The 2007 expo will expand from 15 March to 21 March.
It had more than 6,200 exhibitors from around 70 countries
all over the world.

INTEL’s lappy for kids.

INTEL’s CLASSMATE.
Intel is currently developing a laptop specially designed for the
school going kids which falls in age group 7-18 .
It has mobile x86 processor and is designed to run Windows or Linux.
Intel’s Classmate PC is compatible with a broad segmentt of standard PC software available.

Features:

• 900 Mhz Intel Mobile processor.
• 256 MB of RAM.
• a seven inch LCDwith resolution of 800×480.
• six-cell battery that provides approximately four hours of uptime when fully charged.
• It uses a 1GB NAND flash drive for storage.
• Built-in Ethernet and 802.11G wireless hardware.

The Lappy will be designed to withstand rough handling.
Intel wants the device to be branded with a school badge imprinted on a cloth-covered casing to make it less likely to be stolen and resold than a conventional laptop, according to reports in The Sunday Telegraph.

This laptop will be available for sale in coming september .

The price of robust laptop is estimated at around £500.

Intel’s classmate is like the OLPC project XO laptops.

XO features:
