After around 2 years and 9 months of its release, Team Fortress 2 is now available as a free download, and it will remain free for rest of its life. Just like before Team Fortress 2 is free to play, even if you have downloaded it for free. Valve believes that they do not need to sell Team Fortress 2 for a price, since the game can earn enough money from its in-game purchases like hats, weapons, crate keys and more.
However those of you who have paid a price for the game will enjoy some privileges over the free account holders like a larger backpack, access to standard, cosmetic, rare items, and much more.
Now you might want to know that how to become a premium account holder in TF2 even if you have downloaded it for free. Fortunately, it is very easy to achieve. All you need to do is to buy some stuff of any amount from in-game Mann Co. store and you will automatically become a premium account holder.
And here’s one for the premium account holders. If a free account holder becomes a premium account holder, and rates you as the most helpful friend then you will get a free wearable item. But remember you will need to coach the new player first.
