12 January 2011 By Varun

If you are not using any software for viewing PDF files on Chrome, or you feel that it is irritating that you have to switch between apps to view a PDF file while you are working on net, then you can use Google Chrome’s PDF Viewer plug-in to sort out the issue.

Yes, Chrome has a built in PDF viewer which is not activated by default, as it may cause compatibility issues with some other PDF viewing software. As a result, it is also advised to uninstall all PDF viewing software before using Chrome PDF Viewer plug-in.

Prerequisite:

  • Google Chrome 6.0 or later.

Guide to activate Google Chrome PDF Viewer plug-in:

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Enter chrome://plugins/ in the address bar.
  3. Press enter.
  4. Look for PDF Viewer on the page (most probably it will be the very first plug-in).Google-Chrome-PDF-Viewer-Plug-In
  5. Click on “Enable”.

Now you can view PDF files within your browser. Enjoy.
