Foradian Technologies Pvt Ltd have created a new symbol for Indian Currency (shown above) which was previously denoted as INR. Now this distinct symbol will officially represent the Indian Rupee  and can thus be distinguished from the currencies in countries like Pakistan, Sri-Lanka, Nepal etc who also uses the same Rupee currency. 

Using the new Rupee Symbol

This symbol can be availed by downloading Rupee Foradian font to C:/Windows/fonts folder. To use this symbol you have to change the font of the word editor to Rupee_Foradian and use the ” ~ ” key to insert the symbol anywhere you want. This technique can be temporarily used till we get the new Rupee symbol included in the ‘Unicode Standard’ for easy accessibility.
