Project Pink (now Kin) was hyped so much, and everyone was expecting a path breaking device from Microsoft. But, what came on the stores was a big disappointment, not only for customers but for Microsoft as well. And now, Microsoft has finally decided to pull back on Kin.
This all started from the delays in project, along with increased cost and issues with carriers. And then Kin proved to be a big flop in the real world. All these reasons accounted for the “death of kin”.
Microsoft confirmed this on CNET. The official statement from Microsoft went like this:
“We have made the decision to focus exclusively on Windows Phone 7 and we will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned,” the company said. “Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones.”
Kin was such a disappointment that Microsoft pulled back just after 6 weeks of its launch. Now, Kin team will work with Windows Phone 7 team to improve Windows Phone 7 platform. Lets see, if they can pull something special this time.
