Google has partnered with Intel, Sony and Logitech to bring a set-top box named Google TV based on Android platform, featuring Intel Atom processor that will let you enjoy the web apps like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and other similar sitesĀ just by changing channels, Google TV will also feature a version of Chrome browser developed specifically for the device for surfing web. The Android based Google TV software will be open source for software developers, which means more creative applications for your TV.
The development toolkit for Google TV is expected to become available within next few months, you could also expect TVs from Sony with built in Google TV as well as standalone Google TV hardware, on the other hand Logitech is said to be working on a keyboard based remote control for the device. If you are someone who uses technology a lot then you will know that you often have to wait for things. It’s like when O2.co.uk bring out a new contract or internet price it doesn’t happen immediately. Usually you have to wait while things are developed. It is pretty much always worth the wait though.
Google TV Pricing
The price of Google TV is not available as of now officially, but we expect it to be in the range of cheapest Atom based devices, $150 will be the sweet spot though, however the price will depend heavily on final features and specifications.
