How to Play ISO/CSO Games on your Hacked PSP 3000 Slim
In our previous posts we told you how to hack your PSP 3000 and how to take backup of your favorite PSP UMDs, continuing the PSP mania in this post we will talk about how to play .iso/.cso backup image files from memory card. First things first you will need a hacked PSP 3000 with custom firmware 5.03 Gen-A Full, without CFW you cannot backup your UMDs and cannot play them.

How to Play .iso/.cso game image files on PSP 3000
First you will need to create a folder named ISO in the root of your memory card, this is where you .iso/.cso game image files will be stored. Put all your UMD games backup image files in this ISO folder.
If you try the run the game now with image files you will get some error like "the game could not be started"
Go the Game -> Memory Stick, Now you will need to bring up the VSH menu by pressing SELECT button, Browse to UMD ISO MODE, now change the mode from Normal to M33 driver by pressing right arrow button on your PSP, press SELECT again to exit. Once you have done this, you are ready to play games of your memory stick.
Go to Game -> Memory Stick -> .iso/.cso game files -> select your game and start playing

- You can even compress your UMD to .cso format using high compression settings to save even more memory card space

I did the GenB then Gen C update yesterday. My PSP just shuts down in the middle of a game session (happened thrice) and when I turn it on the games disappear but the installer stays and then I have to reaload Chicken. While shutting down the memory card light blinks rapidly and it makes a fuse off sound and goes blank. Plz help.
PSP 3004 HACKING GUIDE made easy
Step 1:
First you have to upgrade your PSP firmware to 5.03, Download this 5.03 Firmware file, connect your PSP to PC in USB mode, Double click on downloaded exe file. It will copy firmware data EBOOT.PBP on your PSP, Now go to GAME -> Memory stick -> Firmware 5.03 -> Press X , this will upgrade the firmware to original 5.03 firmware in a couple of minutes.
Step 2:
Download ChickHEN R2, extract to PSP 3000 folder on desktop and double click on EZ503HenSLIMversion.exe on your desktop, it will bring up this photo seen on your desktop…
Connect your PSP and click Install , It will copy necessary files to your PSP
Press O to disconnect from USB mode and then go to system setting and click on restore default settings ->change the umd cache and umd auto start to off remove ur memory stick switch off the psp and switch it ongo to PHOTO -> now put insert the Memory stickgo to ChickHEN -> Press X -> PSP will boot in ChickHEN R2 mode, you can verify this by going to System-> System Information , it will show ChickHEN 5.03 R2
Step 3:
Once you have ChickHEN 5.03 now you can go forward and install 5.03GEN-a, which will allow you to run ISO/CSO image backups of your PSP games on PSP 3004.
Download PSP 5.03 Custom firmware
Extract the files to PSP 3000 folder on desktop
Double click on Launch-Me.exe, Enter the letter of your PSP memory card, In mine it was E, click START.
Files will be copied on your PSP, wait 20 seconds. Disconnect from USB mode, go to Game -> Memory card -> INSTALLER LOADER -> Press L or R Trigger -> Press O to boot in custom firmware
Congrats, You have successfully hacked your PSP 3004 to chickenhen 5.03- gen A
Step 4:
Gen A to Gen B
How to Upgrade your PSP 3000 to 5.03 GEN-B Custom Firmware
• Go to System Information to check the if you have successfully installedGEN-A
• Download GEN-B File and extract it to desktop
• Connect your PSP 3000 to your PC
• Copy the “5.03GEN-B” folder from the files you extracted (inside PSP->Game) and Paste it inside your PSP Memory Stick “Game” Folder
• Disconnect your PSP
• Go to GEN-B Quick Updater in “Game” inside your PSP, Press X to Begin Installation
• Keep holding the LEFT button while the installation proceeds until u get the
• Press X again to boot into GEN-B custom firmware
• Congrats you have successfully installed 5.03 GEN-B
Step 5:
How to upgrade your PSP 3000 Custom Firmware to 5.03 GEN-C
Requirements:
• PSP 3000 with 5.03 firmware with GEN-A –> GEN-B, Higher firmware’s not supported
• Check your PSP Settings if it shows 5.03 GEN-B (Full)
STEPS
• Download Custom Firmware GEN-C and extract to desktop
• Connect your PSP 3000 to your PC
• Copy the “GEN-C” folder from the files you extracted (inside PSP->Game) and Paste it inside your PSP Memory Stick PSP –> Game Folder
• Disconnect from USB mode
• Run GEN-C Quick Updater by going to GAME –> Memory Stick in your PSP XMB
• Press X to install and keep holding the LEFT button the entire time X again to boot into GEN-C custom Firmware, it takes 3-4 seconds
• Go to Settings –> System Information, it should now show 5.03 GEN-C (Full)
Step 6:
How to Play .iso/.cso game image files on PSP 3000
