Nokia wants your Used Phone for a Greener World!
Nokia has launched a “Take Back” Program in India where it is asking users to recycle their old phones and its accessories. Nokia wants to create awareness that electronic gadgets should be recycled properly so that they doesn’t cause harm to the environment and has also set up various Recycle Bins throughout the country at all Nokia Priority Dealers and Nokia Care Centers to make this program successful.
According to recent survey, each person in India has five phones in their house on an average. Most of the old phones are kept useless at their homes while some of them have given it to friend or had sold them. Only 17% of people in India knew that the mobiles phones and its accessories can be recycled. Well if you are also not aware of the fact that “all the gadgets no matter what they are and of which brand they are, can be and they should be recycled properly”, then take this article very seriously.
Thus Nokia is taking a step forward for a greener world and has launched such a “take-back program where these phones can be properly recycled. All you have to do is pickup your old handset or accessories (such as chargers, headphones, etc) of any brand and drop it at any recycle bins across any Nokia Priority or Nokia Customer Care Center in India. What Nokia will do is plant a tree for every handset dropped in such boxes thus making a step towards green environment.
Nokia says that it will properly recycle the phones and its parts. These can be used to make new phones or generate energy from them. Though I expect to see a “refurbished Nokia products” page filled up soon at their website. This concept basically aims at creating awareness about “Gadgets should be recycled properly”. And oh yes on recycling your old phone, Nokia may provide you with a surprise gift as well. So anyone interested?
