Download FeedDemon 2.8 RC1: Windows RSS Feed Reader
FeedDemon is the soul of bloggers (OK not every blogger but most of us do use FeedDemon to catch up with our feeds). It has been a long time, we haven’t seen any update of our dear Feed Client. But the FeedDemon 2.8 is around the edge and might be released anytime next month.
The Windows RSS Reader is coming up with a bunch of new features and is specially optimized for the Windows Vista. The features include:
- “Share” icon added to newspaper which adds the item to your shared clippings.
- Items can now be tagged:
- Tags will now be synchronized with NewsGator
- “Subscriptions Home” includes a tag cloud
- Tags can be dragged from the tree and dropped onto a post in a FeedDemon newspaper
- Tagged items can be excluded by the Cleanup Wizard
- Tagged items can be excluded from purging of older articles (click Options on the “Manage Tags” dialog to enable/disable)
- Tagging is now included in the attention algorithm
- “G” single-key newspaper shortcut displays tag editor for current item
- “Search Subscriptions” enables searching only tagged items
- ”Use theme colors” added to Appearance tab in Options – when enabled, colors in Surfer newspaper style are inherited from the current Windows theme.
- “What’s New” page now displays at start-up after upgrading.
- Embedded ads.
- Cleanup Wizard and Panic Button can now be limited to specific folders.
- Short URL’s Baloon Tip.
FeedDemon will now display the Baloon Tooltip for the url’s that are encoded with services such as tinyurl, gd.is, etc. This will really help users a lot as they will know where the URL actually points to. Here is a screenshot of the tooltip (Thanks Nick) :
Surely the FeedDemon 2.8 will be a nice upgrade for its users but “No good things come for free”. Thus the version from FeedDemon 2.8 will now be monetized i.e. it will show ads at the bottom of the page.
Currently FeedDemon RC1 is available for download. Download FeedDemon 2.8.
