Download Free Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex

The latest version of Ubuntu linux version 8.10 codenamed Intrepid Ibex has finally  been released and is available for download right now. New version release includes GNOME 2.24 and version 2.6.27 of the Linux kernel which brings several performance features along with 3G support. Ubuntu 8.10 has better flash support and includes Xorg 7.4, for input device hot-plugging  .

Planning of next version, Ubuntu 9.04 codenamed Jaunty Jackalope has already begun, the roadmap will be put together in December at the Ubuntu Developer Summit, at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View.

Objectives for Ubuntu 9.04 includes improved boot up time and system performance and  integration of web technologies more tightly with the desktop.
