2 Year warranty on SanDisk MobileMate USB Card Reader

Compatible with Windows XP, Vista and MAC OS X

Genius is not a company that you would normally associate with Digital Cameras or Camcorders. Genius mainly deals in Computer Peripherals but they are also involved in Cameras and Camcorders. There latest product is the G-Shot HD55 camcorder which offers high definition shooting at a decent price.

It has a 5 Mega Pixel CMOS sensor and it can record videos at a high resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels at 30 FPS. Other resolutions that are offered are 352 X 240 and 720 X 480. The videos can then be viewed in high definition televisions. It also has 2X digital zoom. It has a 3 inch TFT LCD color screen. It can also capture still images at 8 MP using software interpolation. It also comes with LED lights to shoot in dark environments. Sadly, it has an inbuilt memory of only 32MB so you would definitely need to add a microSD card to it. It can support upto 4 GB of external card.

Even though this support HD video recording, it is available at a decent price of Rs 13,285 with one year warranty.

Toshiba Corp, a leading innovator in memory card technologies will be launching 16GB microSDHC card next month. The new card will be launching in December 2008 but the mass production will start from January 2009. Also the two old cards have been re-furbished to comply with Memory Card 2.0 standards thus raising the overall read/write speed of all the cards.

Refurbishing the old series, the 16GB & 32GB SD cards and the new microSDHC 16GB will now comply with the SD memory standard Ver. 2.00. The new cards will support ultra-fast read/write speed upto 20 MB per second, delivering high performance for continuous shooting of videos and high resolution images images. This will also cut down the time while browsing files on your phone.

Here is a table that shows the new models with their upcoming dates of their mass production and their classes:

Product Name

Density

SD Speed Class

Start of mass production

microSDHC Memory Card
SD-C16G

16GB

Class 2

Jan, 2009

SDHC Memory Card
SD-F16G

16GB

Class 6

Apr, 2009

SDHC Memory Card
SD-F08G

8GB

Class 6

Dec, 2008

Also now microSDHC can be used in SDHC slot with an adapter. The changes were necessary to meet the industries ever-demanding latest gadgets that need more memory in less space and better data transaction speeds. However the 32GB SDHC line remains untouched and will continue with the old speeds.

Its good to watch the progress of technology, packing so much of data in half a inch is like wonder. Maybe, In next 10 years we may see some 100’s of gigs packing in such small cards. The future of memory storage is really very interesting.

Nokia is pushing the launch of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic worldwide. Just a day before the phone was launched in India and here comes the other news, it will be up for sale in Hong Kong this Saturday.

The major difference of phone being launched in Hong Kong to the one manufacturing in China is they will have Wi-Fi and 3G capabilities which were taken off from the Chinese models.

Here is a quick recap on the specifications of phone being launched in Hong Kong:

Storage: 81 MB Internal Memory – Card Expansion up to 8GB

Screen: 360 x 640 pixels Touch Screen with hand writing recognition

Processor: ARM 11, 369 MHz

Memory: 128 MB RAM / 256 MB ROM

OS: S60 over Symbian; Symbian 9.4, S60 5th Edition

Other Features: Stereo Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-fi, A-GPS, TV out, 3.5mm Jack stereo output, IMAP/POP3/SMTP/Microsoft Exchange, Dialing, Commands, Recording, Speaker Phone, Stereo FM Radio with RDS. Catch Complete Specs of Nokia 5800 here…

The phone will be available for 400 euro’s which is nearly 25,300 INR. It is costlier than the Chinese version but Hong Kong is well-known for original branded products than the Chinese version. Also it sports 3G & Wi-fi over the Chinese version, thus paying a little more is worth in Hong Kong.
