Lenovo has launched IdeaPad Y710 notebook PC in India. The notebook is the company’s first with a 17 inch monitor and has a resolution of 1440 x 900.It is also packed with a lot of “multimedia” capabilities including a graphics card for gaming fans.

The notebook comes with its twin 160GB hard drive that gives users 320GB of storage space. For the first time, Lenovo has introduced RAID function in the IdeaPad Y710. The function simultaneously uses both the hard disk drives to achieve greater levels of input/ output performance and data reliability. Mirror copies of the data are also maintained on different drives to ensure complete data security. For gaming purpose, the Lenovo IdeaPad comes equipped with the ATI Radeon Mobility HD 2600 with 512MB of memory. A few models of Lenovo IdeaPad are ideal for gamers as they come with game zone functionality which includes enlarged directional buttons for game play, four user-customizable buttons and a secondary display showing system information such as CPU speed.

It also has a performance control switch with Turbo mode for maximum power, which includes CPU overclocking and Quiet mode for saving energy. It also comes with touch-sensitive controls and users can select between multimedia choices, volume and equalizer. Other than that, it has WLAN connectivity, Dolby Home Theatre system and an optional Blu-ray DVD reader. It has an integrated 1.3 MP camera and VeriFace face recognition software to recognize a user’s face for log-in thus eliminating the need to remember passwords.

It is available in metallic finish and comes with a price tag ranging from 45,000 to 85,000.
