Intel Shows Off Classmate 3.0 Convertible Laptop With Touchscreen[Intel's Netbook]

Intel Classmate Netbook

Intel has again surprised the masses by lifting the curtains on its Classmate third generation convertible laptop, Its a lot more cooler and feature packed than its predecessors. It features Intel’s Atom N270 processor, running at 1.6GHz, Accelerometer, 8.9-inch screen with hinge so that it can be turned into a tablet when needed. It also boasts of a touchscreen a first in the netbook segment.

Here is a full feature list, perfect netbook i would say:

  • Intel’s Atom N270 processor 1.6 GHz
  • Intel 945GSE chipset
  • 8.9 Inch screen with touchscreen support for pen or finger input
  • 1024 x 600 display resolution
  • Accelerometer: the display can rotate just like in the iphone depending on the position of the screen(see video)
  • Palm recognition: you can rest your hands on the screen
  • Windows XP Home edition
  • Wi-Fi Connectivity
  • 180 degree camera rotation
  • 1GB RAM
  • .3 or 1.3 megapixel camera
  • Water resistant keyboard
  • SSD hard drive( size not specified yet )
  • SD card slot
  • Two USB ports
  • 4 cell battery
  • Rugged laptop designed for rough handling

Price is expected to be around 400$( Rs 16,500 approx.) but not yet confirmed

Update: The Classmate 3 netbooks are scheduled to reach the markets by the end of 2008
