Seagate Reveals World’s First 1.5 TeraByte Hard Drive

Seagate one of the pioneer HDD manufacturer has revealed their latest high capacity Barracuda 7200.11 1.5 TeraByte hard drive for the masses. This HDD is claimed to be the world’s first hard drive to have such gigantic storage capacity in the history of hard drives.

The hard drive incorporates the PMR( Perpendicular Magnetic Recording) technology and make use of four platters of 375 GB each to reach 1.5 TB capacity. Last year we saw the 1 TB hard drives by Seagate followed by other manufacturers, the capacities of HDD are increasing way beyond our expectations, price per GB is falling at a rapid rate, with these high capacity drives available for backup i am sure you won’t need to worry about storage anymore.

The Barracuda 7200.11 1.5 TeraByte is a 3.5 inches hard drive with data transfer rate of 3GB(SATA) per second. Seagate also introduced the 2.5 inch 500GB laptop hard drives the Momentus 5400.6 and Momentus 7200.4, these drives comes equipped with a smart sensor technology for shock absorption which prevents laptop damage.

The new drives will start shipping this August. No word on pricing is available yet.
