The much awaited Palm Treo 800w has finally been unveiled. The phone will be available at the Sprint stores this week. It is the first major new model from Palm Inc since The Centro, a smaller version of its flagship Treo, was introduced last year. With its new features such as high-speed connectivity, GPS capabilities, WiFi and EV-DO Rev. support, it might help Palm in regaining there leading position in smart phones market.
Palm Treo 800w measures 0.7 inches thickness and features 320 by 320 touch screen display. It operates under Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1 professional. The new GPS allows users to enjoy the direction guidance via the GPS navigation system with a sharper screen resolution display in Treo 800w. The EV-DO Rev. will enable users to download data at the speed of up to 3.1 Mbps and upload data at up to 1.8Mbps speed. Users can even enjoy the Wi-Fi service by simply touch a button. It has a hardware button that easily turns on its Wi-Fi circuitry and triggers the search for an 802.11b/g access point. It also allows users to take advantage of Internet on built-in Internet Explorer Mobile.
The new Professional Developer Program and the Titan platform for Windows Mobile 6.1 devices open Palm to new business applications, helping developers to generate services that can work on both mobile and desktop devices. With the new screen enhancements, users can call, text, email, perform a web search and map a contact’s address, all directly from the Screen. Some of its superior call management features include dedicated mute, speakerphone, conference calling icons, or dial any number in an email or webpage, all with just one touch.
The smart phone will all its features is ideal for business men. The Palm Treo 800w smart phone will be available in the Sprint Stores or online for $249.99 with a two-year contract.
