ATI’s Fastest Graphics Card Ever

July 21st, 2008 by Ankit Duseja

So it was Nvidia and only Nvidia all around since past quarter of this year but now things are changing. ATI is stepping hard in the Graphic’s battle field with the all new ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 - R700 that is going to get serious trouble for Nvidia now. This heater is a multi-GPU card with the power of twins (Radeon HD 4870’s) will get you blowing performance.

ATI-R700

It sports 2 Gigabytes of onboard memory which makes this piece unique in its own series. The major noticeable changes is that the two RV770s communicate with each other through a PCI Express switch which doubles the memory. The past Crossfire configs let the two cards do their job independently which is later combined for the main output.

The power consumption is assumed to be around 250W which is definitely higher than the previous builds and will be eating a lot of energy. Everything is good on the hardware configs side, lets hope ATI guys get good drivers to get max out of this dual-power card.

Are you asking about the price? I think I can get a good notebook (consisting of a 2.0 Ghz processor, 2GB of RAM, some 120 gigs of memory and a genuine vista too) in the price of buying this card. To be exact its will get in streets with a price tag of $500 U.S. dollars. So are you interested in this giant?
