Its raining lighter laptops, ever since Apple released their MacBook Air more and more companies are joining the lighter and better laptops bandwagon. I have already blogged about the Fujitsu Lifebook P160 and the Lenovo’s ultralight Thinkpad X300 and now its Toshiba’s turn to blow up some Air. Toshiba has revealed their refurbished version of Toshiba’s Portégé R500 laptop equipping it with additional features.
Toshiba is claiming it to be the lightest and thinnest laptop available today according to its spec sheet the laptop weighs only 771 grams and only 25.5 mm thick. The laptop is now available in two flavors: the R500-11J and the R500-11I.
The R500-11J model comes with a 64GB solid-state disk (SSD) and no internal optical drive whereas the 900-grams R500-11I feature s a normal notebook hard-disk drive with 120 GB of storage and an ultra-slim Super-Multi DVD burner.
R500-11I is available for an estimated retail price of $3,000( Rs 1.17 Lakhs) , while the SSD version at $3,658(Rs 1.43 lakhs)…hefty sum you have to pay if you want to own the world’s thinnest and lightest laptop powered by Windows.
