Hitachi Introduces 2.5 Inch Half Terabytes HDD’s

Hitachi technologies has revealed their 2.5 inch hard disk drives for the mass market. The new Hitachi Travelstar 5K500 slim HDD’s have been released for use in slim desktops,laptops and can also be used as portable USB hard drive when used with the laptop USB cases which are widely available these days.

The latest hard drives from Hitachi also incorporate innovative technologies like RVS(rotational vibration safeguard) technology , shock protection and BDE(bulk data encryption) to safeguard and secure your data. Features are dependent on the different versions of HDD’s available.

Travelstar 5K500 uses a three disk design to deliver capacities upto half terabytes. Hitachi has also taken care of the power requirements, the new drives are energy efficient too with energy profiles comparable to their two disk predecessors which means longer battery life your laptop and more productivity for the end user.

This is the first time such huge capacities of storage will be available in the 2.5 inch segment of hard drives once these drives start becoming avaliable from feb 2008. No details about the pricing is available right now.
