Notorious audible virus is saying something

July 6th, 2007 by Shashank
“You have been infected,I repeat you have been infected and all your system files have been deleted.Sorry .Have a nice day and Bye Bye.” The above words is not from a Sci-Fi movie but they are the words of Trojan horse “Botvoice. A” which will take control of your Windows Text Reader and yells the above message while wiping out your hard drive. The virus deletes the system files and also modifies the windows registry and blocks any further action to recover from the critical condition. All you are left with a voice which will play in a continous loop in a taunting way.
The virus spreads itself through peer to peer networks and USB and floppy drives and unusual thing is it doesn’t jump from PC to PC on its own the user have to download it first from the internet and once its in it will infect your USB and floppy drives and cause further damage.

The new trojan horse was detected by the Panda labs you can find more information about the virus at virus encyclopedia here.

Sony develops Liquid Airbag technology for portable devices

July 4th, 2007 by Shashank
Sony has developed a new technology in which the electronic components of the portable devices will be submerged in a Liquid(may be water or oil) Airbag preventing and absorbing the shock in case your mobile or any other portable devices has fallen on ground.

This sounds pretty much fishy isn’t it,imagine all the electronics in water or silicon oil ,but don’t worry about it you will not get electric shock as Sony has said that all the circuitry will be fully liquid proof inside the Liquid Airbag and is meant to prevent shock and not to give you a shock hope you get it .

The new technology would find application in mobiles ,hard drives , Laptops and other portable forms of electronic media.Sony has also filed a new patent for its new Liquid Airbag technology ,if this technology becomes success you can have your gadgets almost fully disaster proof as liquid will act as a cushion between the electronic component which will prevent it from being destroyed.

Microsoft XPS to challenge Adobe’s PDF standard

July 3rd, 2007 by Shashank
Recently Microsoft submitted their new standard XPS ( XML Paper Specification) to the Standard setting body Ecma International for the future of the electronic paper/document standard ,there is also a fight going on between the Adobe and Microsoft as Adobe want its PDF to become the dominant standard for online documentation.Microsoft has even bundled the XPS document writer with Windows Vista and Office 2007.

(Click on Read more to expand)

This move will hit the Adobe as it has not made the full functionality available in the free versions ,they might think to make it free now as direct competition from the software giant Microsoft is inevitable now.

End users will definitely benefit out this “standards fight” between the Softare giants. The users will have a choice and they will choose the best standard.

while Microsoft new standard has to face a stiff competition as the Adobe’s PDF standard is widely used on the internet these days .The new standard would have to be good enough so that it can replace the PDF which i think is nearly impossible.
