INTEL’s CLASSMATE.
Intel is currently developing a laptop specially designed for the
school going kids which falls in age group 7-18 .
It has mobile x86 processor and is designed to run Windows or Linux.
Intel’s Classmate PC is compatible with a broad segmentt of standard PC software available.

Features:

  • 900 Mhz Intel Mobile processor.
  • 256 MB of RAM.
  • a seven inch LCDwith resolution of 800×480.
  • six-cell battery that provides approximately four hours of uptime when fully charged.
  • It uses a 1GB NAND flash drive for storage.
  • Built-in Ethernet and 802.11G wireless hardware.


The Lappy will be designed to withstand rough handling.
Intel wants the device to be branded with a school badge imprinted on a cloth-covered casing to make it less likely to be stolen and resold than a conventional laptop, according to reports in The Sunday Telegraph.

This laptop will be available for sale in coming september .

The price of robust laptop is estimated at around £500.

Intel’s classmate is like the OLPC project XO laptops.

XO features:

  • 366MHz AMD Geode processor.
  • 6 to 20 hours backup.
  • Integrated camera.
