AMD’s series 690 chipset to challenge INTEL.

AMD(Advanced Micro Devices) has launched a new chipset which
supports a unique feature of supporting large screen television
and monitors.

“As a result of the ATI merger, AMD is delivering innovative platforms for
the commercial and consumer markets featuring best of breed performance,visual computing experience, energy efficiency and stability,” said Dirk Meyer AMD president and COO.

The AMD series 690 chipset is combination of the AMD’s
CPU technology and the ATI’s Radeon’s X1250 GPU(graphics-
processing unit)

It is specially designed to enhance the visual experience in
windows VISTA like Aero and 3D flip.

This product was the first release of the
AMD’s ATI aquisition in july 2006 .
AMD’s has corralled ATI in $5.4 billion.

That aquisition has given AMD an edge over Intel.

The new chipset also boasts of a DVI support for
connection with the Digital television.
It even support HDMI and HDMP (high definition multimedia interface
and content protecion respectively).

AMD also said in future expect the processor and the 690 technology in the same chip.
